Making It Through —
That Already Means Something

I won't say I had it all figured out. But I made it through. May mga hard moments, but I kept going — and for me, that already means something.

Personal growth and resilience 2023
Sometimes the milestone is just: I'm still here.

Not every milestone looks like a trophy

Some milestones are loud — a first place finish, an award on a stage, a diploma in your hands. But some milestones are quiet. They look like getting through a year that asked more of you than you expected. They look like still being here, still choosing to continue, when there were moments it would've been easier not to.

2023 was one of those quiet milestones.

Finishing something hard, even without a prize at the end — that counts. Persistence in the absence of recognition is one of the hardest and most underrated forms of strength.

The hard moments I don't always talk about

There were personal struggles this year — the kind that don't get listed in a CV or talked about in introductions. Internal battles, moments of doubt, stretches of time where I didn't know how things would turn out.

But I didn't give up. Not once did I let myself completely stop. I allowed myself to slow down, to feel it, to process it — but I always got back up. And that, I've learned, is the whole game.

What "making it through" taught me

First year of college is not supposed to be easy. Nobody says it will be. But I think the version of me that walked in was not prepared for just how much growth would be required — emotionally, mentally, socially.

By the time 2023 closed, I had a clearer picture of what I was capable of. Not a perfect picture — but clearer. I knew I could handle difficulty. I knew I could be uncertain and still move forward. I knew that making it through, even without applause, was worth honoring.

So here it is — officially honored. 2023: the year I made it through. And that already means something.
