Being chosen to represent
There's something that hits differently about being chosen to represent your college. It's not just about the competition itself — it's the weight of the name you're carrying when you walk in. You're not just you anymore. You're the college. And that responsibility sharpens you in ways that regular classes never could.
In 2024, I got that opportunity more than once. Different competitions, different challenges — but the same feeling every single time: a quiet mix of pressure and pride that made me want to give everything I had.
Representing isn't just about winning. It's about showing up fully — prepared, present, and proud of where you come from. The result matters, but the act of showing up at all is already a statement.
What competing taught me
Every competition I joined in 2024 forced me to prepare in ways I wouldn't have otherwise. I had to know my material deeply, articulate ideas clearly under pressure, and hold my ground when questioned by people with far more experience than me.
I didn't always win. But I always came back with more than I had going in — sharper thinking, thicker skin, and a clearer sense of what I was capable of when I actually pushed myself.
Grateful for every experience — even the hard ones
If 2024 taught me anything, it's that growth rarely feels comfortable while it's happening. The competitions I entered, the events I represented our college in, the moments I had to perform when I didn't feel ready — all of it added up to a version of me that's more capable, more confident, and more grateful than the one who started the year.
I'm just really thankful. For the opportunities, for the people who believed in me enough to send me, and for the version of myself that chose to show up every single time — even when it was scary.
